We ask that you give us 24 hours notice if you have to cancel or change
your appointment time. We do have voice mail on our telephones and you
may leave a cancellation message on our system. You will have to call us
back to reschedule the appointment. A late cancellation or "no show" fee
of $30.00 will be assessed if we are not given notice or you do not
attend without canceling your appointment.
Please try to arrive a few minutes early for your appointment. If we are running late, we will notify you upon check in and make every effort to see you in a timely fashion. The changes in the Alberta Health Care System have meant that there are no longer any dermatologists on staff at any of the hospitals and we frequently see "emergency" patients. Your understanding in this is greatly appreciated. Please notify us immediately if there are any changes in your personal information. It may be important for us to contact you with medical updates. Our physicians are specialists, and are able to see patients by referral only. We appreciate your referral of friends and family but they must arrange to see us through their family doctor. Consultations regarding cosmetic procedures do not require a referral. Your referral is valid for six months after your initial visit. If it has been more than six months since you have seen us, you will be asked to get a new referral from your family physician. We cannot phone in prescription refills. You will be asked to make an appointment if you need a refill on any prescription we have given you. We believe it is not medically responsible of us to refill prescriptions without reviewing and assessing your condition. Occasionally, due to the follow up required, you will be asked to seek refills from your family physician. If you do not have a family physician, our receptionists will be able to provide you with a list of Calgary doctors currently accepting new patients. Alberta Health Care no longer covers certain procedures. If there is any fee for your procedure, you will be informed before the procedure is performed. We accept cash, Interac, Visa and Mastercard and all fees are due at the time of the appointment. You will be issued a receipt that is suitable for income tax purposes or that you may submit to your private insurance carrier. Due to the number of different health care plans available, we are unable to advise you as to whether your plan will cover any procedures we perform. If you are unsure, we suggest you reschedule your procedure and check with your plan administrator. |
